Humid continental: humid with warm, dry summer and severe winter. The coldest month averages between freezing and –38° C (–36.4° F) and the hottest month averages between 10° C (50° F) and 22° C (71.6° F). Annual rainfall varies by season -- dryer in summer, wetter in winter -- and totals not less than 25 cm (10") nor more than 150 cm (59"), though 50 cm (19") to 100 cm (39") is typical. Vegetation is needleleaf evergreen forest, mixed with broadleaf deciduous forest over most of the region.
