Icecap: perennial ice -- cold and dry year-round. Temperatures are below freezing year-round. Annual precipitation is not greater than 100 cm (39"), but less than 25 cm (10") is overwhelmingly typical. There is no vegetation; the ground is usually covered with snow and ice, often many meters of it, and itself is permanently frozen.
